Wyoming Stock Growers Association Endorses Liz Cheney for Congress

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA) has formally endorsed Liz Cheney for Wyoming’s seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 1,000-member organization was formed in 1872 and is Wyoming’s oldest trade association.

In announcing the endorsement, WSGA Executive Vice President Jim Magagna stated, “We have had frank discussions with Liz Cheney on many of the major issues that are impacting our industry as well the exciting opportunities that lie ahead. We are confident that she is committed to restoring the opportunity for states to lead in the management of our natural resources. Liz understands the need to maintain and enhance a tax structure that fosters the transfer of our ranches to the next generation. Liz Cheney will continue the legacy of Cynthia Lummis in providing strong representation for Wyoming and for Wyoming agriculture.”

“I’m incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the Wyoming Stock Growers,” Liz Cheney said. “For more than 140 years they have proudly embodied the strongest traditions of our state’s history, and also successfully guided America’s agricultural policy and economic prosperity. Today, our ranchers and cattle industry face unprecedented challenges in the form of aggressive federal regulations that threaten our jobs, our land, and our way of life. In Congress, I will lead the effort to defend and promote the needs of Wyoming ranching and agriculture and fight to rein-in out of control federal bureaucrats at the BLM and EPA who unconstitutionally target industries, restrict access to our public lands and natural resources, and stand in the way of meaningful economic growth and job creation for our state.”

Since 1872, the Wyoming Stock Growers Association has served the livestock business and families of Wyoming by protecting their economic, legislative, regulatory, judicial, environmental, custom and cultural interests. We promote the role of the cattle industry in resource stewardship, animal care and the production of high-quality, safe and nutritious beef.
