Liz Cheney Statement on Layoffs at Campbell County Mines

Today, Liz Cheney released the following statement on the mass layoffs at North Antelope Rochelle and Black Thunder mines:

“Today we learned that 465 of our neighbors who labor at the largest coal mines in America have to tell their families that they no longer have jobs. This is an unspeakably sad thing for anyone to have to do and is a direct result of the Obama Administration’s determination to kill our coal industry,” Liz Cheney said.

“The mass layoffs at North Antelope Rochelle mine and the Black Thunder mine in Campbell County are being blamed on ‘challenging market conditions.’ That’s a polite way of saying that Barack Obama’s environmental regulations are devastating our coal industry. Hillary Clinton’s promise to ‘put all coal miners out of business’ is coming closer and closer to reality. Wyoming’s fossil fuels are a national treasure, and the protection of our greatest resource, our people, is non-negotiable. I will protect Wyoming families by fighting to reverse the devastating energy policies that the Democrats are imposing on the hardworking people of our state,” Cheney concluded.
