Congressional candidate Liz Cheney made campaign stops in Park County this week culminated in a Meet and Greet event at the Irma Hotel in Cody. The event was well attended as the room was actually overflowing and seemed to be filled with supporters as well as voters who were interested in what the former Vice President’s daughter had to say.
The event kicked off with an official endorsement from U.S. Senator and Cody native Al Simpson.
“Ordinarily I stay out of primaries, but this election is just too important to sit on the sidelines,” Senator Simpson said. “Wyoming really needs another fighter in Washington, and Liz Cheney is that fighter.”
“Ann and I have known Liz since she was a little gal of 11. Her experience, savvy, grit and rock solid Wyoming values make her the best equipped candidate to serve as our next Member of Congress. I have been so very proud to call Liz a friend for these many years, and I will work for her, and I look forward to seeing her sworn in as our next Congresswoman this next January,” Simpson concluded.
Said Cheney of the Senator’s support “Senator Simpson’s distinguished career in Cheyenne and Washington, D.C., has always been grounded by his desire to place the needs of the people of Wyoming before himself. His public service has inspired generations of Wyoming leaders to follow in his footsteps, and I am tremendously honored to have his support.”
Candidate Cheney also took the time to field questions from her audience and addressed her stance on many issues. Most notable were her statements in regard to the “Common Core” and the “Affordable Health Care Act” also known as Obama Care. Cheney stated her desire to end and repeal both of the programs and stated that this next election cycle is crucial if voters would like to see these overturned.
