Cheney: Benghazi Report Proves Clinton Unfit to Be Commander in Chief

CASPER – Liz Cheney released the following statement today after the release of the long-awaited majority report of the U.S. House Benghazi Committee which concluded that the Obama administration failed across multiple agencies to protect Americans in the 2012 terrorist attack.

“The timeline and facts of the final report prove that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were more concerned with their own political fortunes than they were with saving the lives of our fellow Americans in Benghazi,” Liz Cheney said.

“Despite repeated requests, President Obama and Hillary Clinton failed to provide the necessary security resources prior to the terrorist attacks. During the attacks, they failed to provide any of the resources that could have saved the lives of four brave Americans. Following the attacks, they lied repeatedly to the American people about the cause of the attacks. Despite eyewitness accounts and detailed real-time briefings from individuals on the ground, President Obama and Hillary Clinton perpetuated the falsehood that the attack was caused by a video. They knew, as they made these claims, that this was an Islamic terrorist attack on American facilities. That reality did not fit with the Obama administration election year claim that al Qaeda was in retreat. So Secretary Clinton lied, including as she stood at Joint Base Andrews next to the coffins of Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. Secretary Clinton’s shameful behavior, including her willingness to lie to the American people and her determination to put her own political interests above the security of the Americans on the ground in Benghazi, is yet one more example of her lack of fitness to serve as Commander-in-Chief.”
